AquiferWatch Mission

Mission: The mission of AquiferWatch is to educate Floridians on the fundamental concepts of groundwater hydrology and encourage the monitoring of Florida’s groundwater resources by volunteers.

Goal: The goal of AquiferWatch is to involve citizens and assist them in becoming actively involved in the protection and management of Florida’s groundwater and drinking water resources.

Objectives:

● Educate the citizens of Floridan in the concepts of groundwater hydrology, the importance of groundwater as a source of drinking water, and the interrelationships that groundwater has with surface water,

● Encourage the use of volunteers in the monitoring of Florida’s groundwater resources by facilitating “hands-on” citizen participation,

● Encourage monitoring organizations to use volunteer monitoring data in the evaluation of the status and trends of Florida’s groundwater in order to reduce the overall cost of obtaining groundwater data to the citizens of Florida,

● Meet with volunteers and other citizens in order to educate them regarding the importance of protecting Florida’s groundwater and drinking water resources,

● Purchase groundwater monitoring devices for volunteers, and train them in the use of the devices.
